🍎 Working with School Kids on Climate Solutions!
Our Education Committee is relaunching with an exciting initiative that you can play a part in! There are multiple opportunities to collaborate with existing programs (SAGE Vision 2030 and Eco-school Network) to get into local schools this year. Working with kids isn’t only an action we can do to combat the anxiety and emotion we are experiencing in the climate crisis. It can also give us hope and encouragement seeing how much our kids care and learn. Whether you have just a little time to offer or a lot, please tune in during either time to learn more about it!
Join Education Committee meeting next Monday, Aug 28 at 6-7pm pacific time to learn and share your ideas!

âś… A Letter for a Climate Peace Clause to End Trade Attacks on Climate Initiatives
In June, we celebrated the victories of The Climate Resilience Package in the state legislative session this year, potentially bringing ~$90 million federal funding to Oregon for clean homes and buildings, more high-paying green jobs across Oregon. Here’s the recap from OPB and OLCV. Please share with your friends and family! These efforts need to be amplified and spread wide. Oregonians need to know about how climate actions and legislations will benefit our state and communities.
Regarding state climate policies, our chapter recently joined other 233 environmental groups and signed on a coalition letter, calling on the Biden Administration (the Office of the United States Trade Representative) to pursue a Climate Peace Clause. A Climate Peach Clause would protect climate policies in our states from being attacked and undermined via outdated trade agreements written before we needed to tackle the climate crisis. Read the letter here.
🎧 What we are listening: The Green Path Podcast — Our Climate Stories
The Climate Reality Chapter newsletter last month features the podcast some of our chapter members work on together with the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter : The Green Path — Our Climate Stories. As we deal with record-breaking heat (July is the hottest month on Earth ever recorded in the history), eco-anxiety and climate related emotions are real. You are not alone. In this podcast, we chat with people like you and me i the climate movement, sharing their stories and finding ways to contribute. The most recent two episodes focus on imagining a better future (we need to see it to act on it!) and how to cope with eco-anxiety. Plus: a donation will be made for every person who subscribes to the podcast. Win-win!
