A big Thank You! to the at least 15 Climate Reality Project Portland Chapter members who submitted testimony supporting the Climate Superfund Bill SB 1187. Click here to read our chapter’s testimony carefully crafted by Nathan DeSpain of our legislative committee. Unfortunately it did not make it through this session, but there’s energy moving forward for it for the 2026 session.
Missed the Chapter meeting? with special guest presenters from Oregon Physicians for Social Responsibility? Check out the recording on Youtube.
And kudos to the four Chapter Members spotted at (and everyone else who attended) the Move Oregon Forward rally and met their Oregon state legislators to support a climate forward, safe, affordable, and accountable transportation package.

TAKE ACTION
📢 Your voice = cleaner air
Oregon’s Clean Truck Rules are under attack. Fossil fuel lobbyists want to delay the shift to zero-emission trucks—but we can stop them.

Committee News
The legislative committee continues to submit testimony on climate-related legislation and engage with our legislators. In April, committee members submitted testimony on SB 1187 (the Climate Super Fund), HB 3489 (reinstatement of the timber severance tax), HB 2945 (zero emissions school buses) , and SB 126 (improved methane monitoring of landfills). Committee members have also submitted testimony supporting climate and climate justice programs to the Joint Ways and Means Committee, and comments to DEQ for the Advanced Clean Truck rule making. In addition to action at the state level, the committee is engaging with our representatives in the US Congress, urging them to protect the Inflation Reduction Act. A meeting was held with a staff member of Rep. Salinas on 4/25, and meetings with Senators Wyden and Merkley have been scheduled.
The climate friendly foods committee is small but mighty. Lynne gave a presentation on Food Waste Prevention at the Environmental Center in Bend on April 9 to a very fun group. She also gave a class, "Creating a Climate-Friendly Home -- and why it matters" at Central Oregon Community College on April 8, and has an upcoming food waste presentation in June for the City of Florence Environmental Management Committee, a citizen volunteer committee appointed by the City Council.
Nine CRP Portland Chapter members in the education committee supported climate fairs and climate education classes in three schools, reaching approximately 1,350 middle and high school students! Want to join the committee this year? There are more fairs happening in May!
