Legislative Recap & No July Meeting!

+New Chapter Chair!

🎉 State Legislative Session Victory!

We did it!

Despite the longest walk-out in Oregon’s history, the Oregon legislature passed many crucial climate bills that will funnel ~$90 million federal funding to Oregon for clean homes and buildings, more high-paying green jobs and resilient communities across Oregon.

âś… The Climate Resilience Package — Let’s just say when it passed on June 24th, we were jumping up and down for this hard fought win. This package (the Building Resilience and Natural Climate Solutions bills) will funnel millions of federal dollars from the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Act to reducing emissions, upgrading homes and buildings, supporting local disaster resilience projects, combating the climate crisis and protecting Oregon families from extreme weather. Read more from the Senate Majority Office and OPB!

If your state senator and rep voted yes, send them a THANK-YOU note! Find out about the final votes: HB 3409: Senate, House. HB 3630: Senate, House.

Special shoutout to our chapter’s legislative committee for their hard work, especially our co-chairs Karen Harrington and Helena Birecki! đź™Ź

🥾Summer Break: No Chapter meeting in July!

We are taking a break in July and August to enjoy the victory and natural beauty Oregon has to offer. We will keep you posted about a social gathering that’s in the planning for August. Meanwhile, if you missed our June meeting about land uses and reforestation, here’s the recording!

⚡️New Chapter Chair: Kraig Buesch

Kraig from the Climate Friendly Food Committee is now our chapter chair. Both Bill and Alex have to stepped back from leading our chapter due to personal reasons, and we thank them for their dedication. Thank you, Kraig for stepping up and taking on the role to lead us. Feel free to contact Kraig (or any of us on the all-volunteer leadership team) here!

Save the Date: July 25
