Take Action

• Protect US forests🌲

We're in the home stretch for stopping the so-called Fix Our Forest Act (FOFA) from getting a vote in the Senate before the August recess — we need to hold the line on this terrible bill until August 7th. This bill may be stopped by a filibuster. Why do we need to stop it? This very bad bill 

• has zero dedicated funding for the type of wildfire strategies that save lives and livelihoods: Home hardening, defensible space, and emergency planning. 

• guts the Endangered Species act and incentivizes logging of mature trees (which actually reduce temperatures increase soil moisture and slow fires) without ensuring the careful selective thinning or controlled burns that might protect against fire. 

In short, it would be a climate and biodiversity disaster that makes people less safe. Unfortunately, industry and pro-FOFA groups are pushing hard to bring this bill to a vote. They know they only have one more week to take advantage and politicize the current wildfires and smoke across the country.
